GRIND: Medium-coarse
BLOOM: 45–60 seconds
BREW TIME: 3½–4½ minutes
GOOD TO KNOW: Rinse the thick Chemex filter thoroughly before brewing. It helps remove paper flavor, preheats the carafe, and contributes to the clean, nuanced cup Chemex is known for.
Cold Brew
A simple way to make smooth, refreshing, low-acidity coffee at home.
YOU’LL NEED: Brewing vessel · Grinder · Filter or cheesecloth
RATIO: 1:2 (¼ lb coffee · 64 oz water)
GRIND: Extra coarse · Think rock salt
WATER: Room temperature or cold
STEEP TIME: 10–12 hours refrigerated
GOOD TO KNOW: The extra-coarse grind helps prevent over-extraction during the long steep.
Drip Coffee
An easy way to brew consistently great coffee at home.

Espresso
A concentrated brewing method that rewards precision with a rich, complex shot.

RATIO: 18g coffee · 59g espresso (~2 oz)
GRIND: Fine · Adjust to dial in extraction
BREW TIME: 25–30 seconds
GOOD TO KNOW: Look for an even, mouse-tail-like pour with a hazelnut-colored crema and leopard spotting on top. Consistent dosing, leveling, and tamping help you get the shot right every time.
French Press
A simple brewing method that produces a rich, full-bodied cup.
YOU’LL NEED: French press · Grinder · Scale · Kettle · Timer
RATIO: 1:16 (50g coffee · 800g water)
GRIND: Coarse
STEEP TIME: 3½ minutes
GOOD TO KNOW: Preheat the press and metal screen before brewing. After steeping, gently stir to help the grounds settle, then plunge and pour immediately to prevent over-extraction.
Moccamaster
A precision drip brewer designed to make consistently great coffee at home.

RATIO: 1:15–1:16 (75g coffee for a full 10-cup pot)
GRIND: Medium · Adjust to dial in brew time
BREW TIME: 3–5 minutes

Pour-Over
