Always Something Brewing

Coffee has changed a lot since 1998. So have we.

From the beginning, Cuvée has been driven by curiosity—about where coffee comes from, how it’s processed, how roasting changes it, and how to make what’s in the cup better.

That means seeking out exceptional coffees, building relationships with the people who produce them, and constantly experimenting with how we roast and brew.

Nearly three decades in, we’re still learning. Still tasting. Still experimenting. Still asking how we can make the next cup better than the last.

There's No Wrong Way To Drink Cuvée

We take coffee seriously. We just don’t think you should have to.

Drink it black. Add milk. Add sugar. Add seven sugars if that’s your thing.

Make a meticulous pour-over. Pull a perfect shot of espresso. Or put it in your drip brewer and push the button.

However you make it, the best cup of coffee is the one you actually enjoy.

Relationships That Matter

Great coffee starts long before it reaches our roastery.

We’ve spent decades building relationships with growers and producers around the world, working with people who care as much about what they grow as we do about what we roast.

Those relationships give us access to exceptional coffees, help us maintain the quality and consistency you expect from Cuvée, and connect every cup back to the people and places that made it possible.

For us, great coffee has always been about more than what’s in the cup.

Before Austin Was Known For Coffee

Today, Austin is recognized as one of America’s great coffee cities. We’re proud to have been part of that story from the beginning.

Cuvée started roasting in 1998, long before specialty coffee shops dotted every neighborhood and coffee became part of Austin’s identity. Over the decades, we’ve watched the city’s coffee culture grow, evolve, and become something entirely its own.

We like to think we had a little something to do with that.

We brought Cuvée directly to Austin coffee drinkers with a small bar inside Salt & Time butcher shop in 2013, followed by our first Cuvée Coffee Bar on East 6th in 2014. Today, you’ll find us downtown at Natiivo and in South Austin at The Code.

Learning The Craft

Cuvée started almost by accident. In the late ’90s, Mike McKim was working in telecommunications when a visit with his uncle introduced him to coffee roasting. He bought a used roaster, brought it back to Texas, and Cuvée was born.

A few years later, Mike found his way into the espresso-machine business, where he spent five years working with and learning from some of the people who helped shape modern specialty coffee—all while roasting Cuvée coffee nights and weekends.

Those years helped shape the company Cuvée would become.
