Los Luchadores | Featured Coffee 2016

“This coffee has a whole lot of personality.”

Los Luchadores means “The Wrestlers.” That’s because this coffee is a Pacamara varietal making it quirky and full of character. A hybrid between the Pacas, a descendant of the Bourbon in El Salvador, and the Maragogipe, a giant “Elephant Bean” from Brazil, the Pacamara is substantially larger, more than twice the size of most heirloom varietals. Quirky and large—rather appropriate for a Luchador, no?

This particular coffee is unlike most El Salvadorian coffees, because Pacamara’s are seldom seen in this region. Jose Antonio Salaverria’s meticulous eye and keen foresight discovered the varietal and enabled him to challenge long held notions. Don’t let the playful packaging fool you, this is seriously good coffee.
