Roast Level: Dark Roast
Tasting Notes: Cocoa Nibs - Lingering Body

Most people’s initial encounter with a dark roast is a cup full of smoke and ash, but we think coffee should be more than that. We strive to maintain distinctive origin flavors while softening the acidity and highlighting distinctive molasses and spice characteristics. This coffee is a shining example of our craft, providing enough roast development to please those who look for deep character, but applied with a delicate hand to still deliver a true coffee experience.

The West Pole, unlike the North and South Poles, has no geographic significance whatsoever. It was declared to be so as more of a gag than anything else, and we kind've love that. It's definitely not something you would expect to find in Bee Cave, Texas (just east of our roastery) so we named our dark roast blend after it...just because.

Origin: Colombia & Brazil
Altitude: 1000 - 1900 MASL
Varietal: Caturra, Colombia, Yellow Catuai
Process: Washed & Pulped Natural

Dark roast means different things to different people. To us, it means that we have achieved a wonderful balance between origin flavors and roast character.

What I was looking for

This coffee was exactly what I was looking for. An earthy flavor that wasn't super chocolatey, with a bit of smoke, but not like the burning house sensation of a French Roast.

I typically drink mine with a sort of DIY semi-organic "white mocha" creamer (unsweetened creamer plus vanilla extract and cacao butter shavings) and a bit of sugar, but it's still pretty good black, too.

Great Every Day Coffee

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The taste is more near the bold end of the spectrum outright at the point that it makes a good every day morning coffee. The brewing aroma is wonderful. This is great for sitting on the porch and watching the sun rise.

Perfect!

I received West Pole in a gift subscription and was blown away by the flavor and aroma. I had to have more! Now its my daily enjoyment. I also like to mix and West Pole is always the first scoop in the mix. The aroma is so well rounded and warming it's the perfect way to start the day!

I can’t accurately describe the flavor profile of this coffee but it’s rich and bold but not overwhelming. It’s my go to morning brew
