Horchata is Here!

Wait, you've never heard of Horchata?!?

That was the reaction I got from my team at Cuvée Coffee Bar on E 6th when they were first talking to me about introducing a new cold brew creation. Truth is, I had no idea what Horchata was and I had never heard that word before in my life.

I know that I’m quite possibly the only person on the planet who wasn’t familiar with this mystical beverage, but just in case there’s another, here is what Wikipedia says about Horchata. In short, depending on where in the world you drink it and/or who serves it to you, the recipe and ingredients can vary dramatically.

At our East Austin coffee bar, the extremely talented team creates seasonal beverage offerings. These concoctions tend to represent the time of year they are being served and incorporate ingredients that are either fresh or just make sense for the season.

When one of the team returned from a trip to her native Mexico, she brought up the idea of making a Horchata inspired drink with our world-famous nitro cold brew. After some trial and error (and several less than delicious batches) the drink called BrewChata was born. When it was first placed on the menu several years ago, it was instantly the #1 selling drink. We thought that maybe the newness was the reason, but every year since it remains our top selling beverage.

The success of BrewChata made it a no brainer as the flavor inspiration when we decided to add some variation to our OG nitro cold brew. That and the fact that every cold brew had the same old Mocha, Vanilla, Salted Caramel…B-O-R-I-N-G. We’ve updated the recipe in the can from the original shop recipe to create a sweet and creamy drink infused with vanilla, cinnamon and almond. We’ve added just the right amount of all-natural sugar sweetness to satisfy your indulgent side with only 80 calories per can.

So raise a can to the newest member of the Cuvée Cold Brew family, Nitro Horchata Coffee!
